    Read Explaining …
Read Explaining colours to a blind man. Not only will it enlighten many as to what living with a mental illness is like, it also gives comfort to those sufferers who think there is no hope and that they are alone. It is very informative, sometimes shocking but also very funny in parts. All in all, a good read and highly recommended.

    Wow! Ditto on …
Wow! Ditto on everything you just said. I feel the same way day to day. While I’m not on my own, I am financially dependent, but I say I’m in school as an excuse. And I absolutely LOATHE it when people say, “Just get over it!” So, thanks for being so candid.

    Well I can …
Well I can seriously see the reality of living on your own in this video while going through social anxiety disorder. All I can say is that I work at a local retail store and I started off on night shift, recovered from my anxiety somewhat then moved to days and ill never go back to nights, I do simular work, deal with some customers but I enjoy it greatly overall. Try your best, dont give up, find a perfect job thats somewhat social/anti social, and you’ll do fine

    I did work at …
I did work at Starbucks, which is probably as busy as McDonald’s. but the crowd is different. Yeah, the anxiety was there but I got through it at the time. The reason I can’t do such a public setting at the present time is because of the PHYSICAL symptoms of anxiety, it’s not just mental like before. I have the same symptoms of a heart attack when I get panic attacks, it’s beyond my control, so that’s the only reason I haven’t. But in time I will give it a shot :)

    now you say the …
now you say the manager at your job was unhappy with you…well if somthing happends and you end up leaving fine go ahead….but i know this might sound silly but you should try working at mcdonalds…just for a year, because it will expose you to all kinds of people all the time and its one of the most busiest resturants….they might put you in the window, frong counter or back drive…or run (they expose you to people directly) through all the embarssement/panic you will overcome i promise.

if you were to go …
if you were to go to a specialist to help you he/she would basically tell you that you have to expose yourself to your fear. just like a fear of spiders when someone is constantly exposed the fear may be still there but is much lesser…. i have social anxiety too and i work at mc donalds LOL let me tell you i had problems and was on the virge of quiting because its a people place (a people friendly place)

    I’m still having …
I’m still having difficulties. Better than I was. Used to be unable to leave house w/o panicking, couldn’t answer phone/make calls, etc. 1 thing I found made the most impact was cognitive behavioral therapy. It’s really made things less severe. Had it in a group setting w/other SAD sufferers. Don’t know what your health insurance situation is, but if you can get the means CBT is something to look into. Sorry for typos I’m doing this 1 handed while breastfeeding my daughter.

As i am still struggling big time with my SAD, so i am not in a position to give u any advice. all i want to say that u must hang on in there. there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I wish u lived in England and we could be friends. may God bless us.

    Please try and find …
Please try and find the right meds for your anxiety. Combine that with a social network who specialise in social phobia and anxiety would be a huge step forward. You have friends who love you and wish you the best in life. Please try this!

    Social anxiety is …
Social anxiety is just FEAR overpowering a person.

I could tell you all that I am not free from any social anxieties, depression and self pitty.

You wanna know why im free?
    God Saved me…

You also have to believe that you have A WORTH and what other people have you also have and what others feel you feel too…

    Dont believe in your heart!
Look around and youll see that people are the same! their just like you! the only difference is that your FEAR WORSEN TOO MUCH..

    i know it’s …
i know it’s difficult, but it would be good to find a job where you enjoy what you’re doing where you’re working with people who are understanding and not judgmental.

you seem to be a pretty intelligent person, i’m sure if you look hard enough you can find something. develop your writing skills :) they can take you to cool places. and of course never give up looking for your niche!

    no it’s not …
no it’s not something you can just get over it takes time with the right therapy and help. Medication only masks the problem, therapy gets to the root causes of the disorder and that’s when you truly heal and see the results.

I hear ya :) I got so tired of this that I started to really dig deep and looked at all sorts, eastern philosophy etc, I think “mindfulness” ie bhudists approach observing your thoughts etc is something that’s kinda embraced by western psychotherapy these days, but I have found more control over these mind games by really starting to observe myself in these situations, everyones go their own way I guess, give me a shout if ya wanna talk or anything and I hope your internet still works :) G

How do I control my …
How do I control my anxiety at work? It’s my 3rd restaurant, I work as a waitress on weekend and go to uni, and I’ve learned that there are cool places, cool people and bad places with mean people so you just gotta choose whats best for you and grow, anxiety or not, that’s how it is for everyone, learn from mistakes and really focus on things that make you happy and project that in your work
